September 5-6, 2013, Pasay City – Over 12, 000 high school students from 147 schools and several hundreds of teachers and guidance counselors from all over the country flocked to The Forum of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) to celebrate with International Education Specialists (Inter-Ed) their 25th Career Counseling and Guidance Fair.
There were over 50 local and foreign universities in the exhibit, each armed with information and the promotional giveaways for the high school students. Programs were held on either sides of The Forum’s Halls. One side was dedicated to the universities’ school presentations such as cheerleading routines, dance numbers and cultural performances. This was also where the seminars on career aptitude and career pathways were conducted by Ms.Joyce Dy, and Profiles Asia. The other side was a space for the culinary demonstrations by the participating culinary schools. The demonstrations varied from cooking pasta to decorating cupcakes. Several guest performers graced the stage including XFactor Philippines finalist Mark Mabasa, World Karaoke Champions Lilibeth Garcia and JV Decena, Pilipinas Got Talent 4 contestant Lucky Robles, and siblings Makisig and Mayumi Morales.
The Career Counseling and Guidance Fair was open to all high school students, juniors and seniors, who want to be sure that they are making a good decision about their course, college and careers as they pursue further studies. It is the avenue for them to get acquainted firsthand with the information they need to make informed choices on their future career and academic paths. It is a highly recommended event by the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission of Higher Education (CHED), Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as well as President Benigno Aquino Jr. himself.
