Do you want a law degree that’s portable and will even give you a career overseas? Here’s a chance to state your case.
Professor Sandeep Gopalan, Dean of Deakin’s Law School, will visit Manila next month to meet with groups and individuals who wish to be accepted into its LLB (Bachelor of Laws) program to become a lawyer in Australia or to its Master of Laws program, which focuses on international commercial law and corporate regulation.
The consultation with Prof. Gopalan will be by appointment on Monday, May 2, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Makati office of International Education Specialists (Inter-Ed), the country’s pioneer in student placement for study abroad and internship programs, at 2F Trafalgar Plaza, H.V. De La Costa St., Salcedo Village, Makati City.
The consultation session with Prof. Gopalan is free of charge.
The Deakin Master of Laws program covers disciplinary knowledge in the international legal system as well as recent professional practice developments in internet technology, health and financial service, natural resources, dispute resolution and human rights. Students do not have to hold an LLB to enter the Masters program.
The LLB on the other hand is designed as a first degree. It has been developed in consultation with practicing lawyers, ensuring the curriculum being delivered is producing graduates prepared for legal practice or for a range of law‑related careers.
Students engage in legal reasoning and legal skills, including negotiation, mediation, court appearances, legal drafting, statutory interpretation, and professional work experience and law clinics. Although the School has adopted a commercial focus, students are able to study a range of areas including family law and human rights law.
