QUT is located in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, and has a population of approximately 2.12 million people with 25 per cent of Brisbane residents born overseas. Brisbane is renowned for its relaxed, outdoor lifestyle and offers a wide range of activities including sports, arts and entertainment, shopping, dining, and great nightlife. With an average of 261 days of sunshine every year, Brisbane offers a subtropical climate with warm summers and mild winters. Temperatures average from a high of 30 degrees Celsius in the middle of summer to a low of 10 degrees Celsius in winter. Queensland is a state of many contrasts – from tropical coasts and green rainforests to desert and sand country.
