LEARN & EARN IN THE USA – SEMINAR AT THE US EMBASSY’S AMERICAN BUSINESS CENTER

The third in a series of seminars entitled Learn & Earn in the USA will be held on March 13, 2008 at the US Embassy’s American Business Center at the 25 Floor of the Ayala-FGU Building on Ayala Avenue, Makati. Organized by International Education Specialists of Makati, the seminar is free to all participants and is aimed at those people who want to study either undergraduate or graduate courses in the USA, but would prefer to gain work experience by working while studying.

The presentation on Undergraduate courses and programs  (Associate and Bachelor’s degrees) will be held from 2.00pm – 3.30pm with individual interview slots from 3.30 – 5.30pm for students who are interested for September 2008 intake. The presentation of graduate courses (Masters and Ph.D.) will be after office hours from 6.00pm – 7.30pm and individual interview times will be available the following day on Friday, March 14th throughout the day.

The featured university for this seminar is Southern New Hampshire University, a medium sized, private university, located close to Boston. Dr. Steven Harvey, International Admissions Director, will be talking about the large range of fully accredited degrees (regional and subject accreditations) available at SNHU and why the university has a nationwide reputation for its courses. SNHU is acknowledged to be one of the best universities in the East Coast for its Business courses and internationally for its programs in Community Economic Development. Nearly all of its full-time degrees are also available on-line. Many of the known business people in the Philippines studied at SNHU such as Elton See Tan of AsiaWorld, Eric Jurado of World Bangers, Gerard Dee of China Bank, Kendrick Tan, son of Andrew Tan of Mega World, Tala Maria Fernando, daughter of Bayani Fernando of Manila Development Authority and Marikina Mayor, Maria Lourdes Fernando, Exaltacion Robles-Joseph of Sta. Lucia Realty & Development, Derek Ramsey of celebrity fame and Bernice Tenchavez of BT&T and Tender Bob’s.

Part of the attraction of SNHU is the fact that is offers both Curricular Practical Training (CPT – working while studying) and Optional Practical Training (OPT – working after graduation for up to 18 months) with its programs. Dr. Steve Harvey of SNHU said that “the USA welcomes students from the Philippines and encourages them to take advantage of the opportunities made available to them by universities under the student visa”. Student visas, CPT, OPT, part-time work, as well as admission requirements for undergraduate and graduate students will all be covered during the seminar.
